26 Apr Rolex: Baselworld 2013 New Models
Baselworld 2013 is opening its doors to visitors a little late than usual this spring. Renowned as the epicenter of watch & jewellery trade shows, Basel has been attracting more than 100,000 visitors annually with the latest in horology innovations and technical feats since its inauguration in 1917.
Native Basel architects, Herzog & Meuron has ushered a new era for Baselworld in 2013 with a brand new main exhibition hall – a 430 million Swiss francs (CHF) project with a 95,000 square metres coverage. The theme of this year’s Baselworld is aptly entitled “Brilliance Meets”. For those who in the EU region, there is still some time left to attend Baselworld 2013 as the exhibition is ongoing now till 2nd May 2013.
In the past 2 Baselworld exhibitions, the facelifted Rolex Submariner with ceramic bezel, date and non-date, have been the major highlights for me. The introduction of a brand new model Sky-Dweller of Baselworld 2012 has been well-recieved amongst collectors. Tudor experimented with vintage watch influences from the 1960s with a redesigned no-crown guard Black Bay, and the Pelagos with snowflake elements from the 1970s.
